Blogger Of The Month: Emily Cook Harris of EMpowered

Superwoman is one of the many words I would use to describe the lovely Emily Cook Harris. This girl seriously does it all! This post comes at the perfect time since NYC Fit Week is happening this May 11–17th. 22 top boutique fitness studios across the city will offer classes that give 100% of the proceeds to She’s The First and Health Class 2.0.

Emily is the founder of this amazing event, which you should totally check out. With that being said, I am thrilled to announce that Emily is our May Blogger Of The Month! We sat down and interviewed Emily about all things health, here's what you should know:

She's pretty kickass...

Emily is the founder & head trainer of EMpowered. She's also the creator of NYC Fit Week. She's a personal trainer, coach, entrepreneur, dancer, writer, dreamer, and lover of all things fitness & philanthropy. A graduate of Louisiana State with a B.S. in Kinesiology and minor in dance, she's always been fascinated with the science of movement.

She's wants to help you be kickass too!

EMpowered is about helping people kick ass at life! The trainers at EMpowered give you the tools you need to be your best, providing the education, support, and accountability for you to succeed. They also pay it forward by donating 10% to girls' education, empowering the next generation of leaders, thinkers, and entrepreneurs.

She's incredibly ambitious...

Emily started EMpowered to combine her passion for helping others with her love of movement. She wanted to deliver a smart, awesome workout in a positive environment where people feel supported and inspired to accomplish their dreams. It's more than just personal training. It's about discovering your own strength.

Her health philosophy is one to live by...

Emily believes that everyone deserves to live a life they love in a body they're proud of. She says that pride comes from knowing that you're giving it your best - pushing yourself out of your comfort zone and trying new things, following through with the goals you set for yourself, being around people that make you happy, pursuing things you're passionate about, and making time for yourself to unwind and have some fun. Life is meant to be enjoyed! She feels best when she's working out 5-6 days a week, lifting heavy things, running, jumping, dancing, drinking lots of water, eating clean, getting 7+ hours sleep, and making time to slow down (meditate, journal, read, etc). To Emily, being fit extends far beyond just the physical- it's a way of being.

NYC Fit Week is the place to be...

NYC Fit Week is an annual event that unites New Yorkers for fitness & philanthropy, and it's happening next week May 11 - 17th! By attending official Fit Week classes all over the city, your workout is supporting nonprofit organizations HealthClass2.0 and She's the First, benefitting local and global education! You can get involved by signing up for one of the 25 amazing classes here. Invite a friend to join you and get #FitForGood together!

But she's not just fitness...

Emily has always loved dance and theater. She grew up as a dancer, studied it in college, performed for The Walt Disney Company, trained in NYC at Broadway Dance Center, and toured nationally with a musical. She loves seeing Broadway shows; there's something about the theater that just makes her spirit come alive. She's also equally passionate about a good cup of coffee, traveling, and spending time with her favorite person in the world, her husband Andy.
