It was a Wednesday afternoon and my schedule was swamped...
I had a great day at the hospital seeing patients in my dietetic internship, but I didn't have time to pack a snack for my trek to the city for Master's class at NYU.
On my way to the city, I stopped by a local shop to grab a quick snack. After browsing through the store, I finally spotted a Premier Protein Fiber bar! Phew, my "hangry" crisis was averted :)
As a Master's student, I like to pack snacks as opposed to meals for class. Snacks are easier to pack and transport to school, and I don't have to make a scene with a whole elaborate meal in the middle of a lecture hall.
Although snacks can be time-efficient, they aren't always cost-friendly. I'm always on the look-out for the latest healthy snack that's priced right. If you're going to school or have a hectic work schedule, you probably have a similar mindset.
Packing a healthy trail mix ahead of time is great, but it can be time-consuming. A greek yogurt parfait is always a healthy option, but it's not easy to keep it refrigerated when you're on-the-go. I typically grab some type of healthy protein bar because it's easy and portable.
I love Premier Protein Fiber bars because they are affordable, and you get a lot of bang for your buck. The protein in these bars is off the charts! Protein is an important building block of bones, muscles, and skin. Additionally, protein is related to increased satiety (aka it'll keep you full during class/work).
Take the Premier Protein Peanut Butter Caramel Fiber Bar for example, which is what I had in class last Wednesday. This bar is gluten-free, made with no artificial flavors or colors, and boasts 15g of protein! Plus, as you can probably tell by the name, it's an excellent source of fiber. I'm a sucker for anything peanut-butter related, so the taste was certainly on point.
I enjoyed this bar with a warm cup of tea once I got to class, and it really hit the spot. The fiber line of Premier Protein bars is lower in calories than most of their other bars; if I'm getting the larger bar, I'll usually split it in half and enjoy half in the morning and half in the afternoon.
You can check out Premier Protein here. They also sell various shakes, which are another great snack alternative.
